Strategy & Approach

The old ASCouncil.org website was a valuable source of information for the adhesives and sealants community representing more than 75% of the U.S. industry with operations around the world. It’s a site for members to get an update on their member benefits–conferences, reports, and Government relations related materials. We wanted to make sure members got the most out of the site by making the options and resources very transparent. Our approach was to use the home page as a map to the different landing pages.

Design

When people visit sites and can’t find what they are searching for, they will just move on. This is why the new ASCouncil.org needed to be easy to navigate, and with a motto like “Securing the Future” the look had to be futuristic and elegant. Since ASCouncil.org has so many resources, we wanted all of the options to be upfront and very visual. We also drew inspiration from Adhesives.org, another Adhesives and Sealant Council webpage that we redesigned. Pulling in some of the visual elements of Adhesives.org helped create a bridge between their two sites.

Development

After moving Adhesives.org from DotNetNuke to Sitefinity successfully, we knew ASCouncil wouldn’t settle for anything less than the top of the line Sitefinity CMS for their redesign. We did two things like Adhesives.org: we integrated the iMIS association management system and synchronized member signups and newsletter signups with their iMIS database. However, this project was unique because we needed to go beyond transferring data to /from iMIS — we needed to ensure single sign on worked great with their portal. Speaking of portal we also re-skinned their iMIS Portal to look like their new website.
