Google Page Rank, Directories and Link Building explained for Nonprofits

In a nutshell, page rank is the amount of “Authority” your websites commands on the internet. How exactly Google calculates page rank is something that is most likely only known to a few select people of Google, however, there are some things that us SEOs have figured out over the years. Google figures that when a website links to you, they are essentially casting a “vote of confidence” to your website.

Why should nonprofits care about page rank? The more authority their sites have on the web, the higher their new blog postings or pages will appear in Google. If you are just starting out on the web, chances are you have a low page rank (0 or 1) and your website will not appear high in search engines.

There are several ways you can increase page rank. The most effective way is to get high page rank sites to link to your website. Getting PR and written up and a news publication or blog is one way. Another way is to submit your website to nonprofit niche directories. I was able to research a total of 184 high quality directories to post your link.
